Measure weights in non-standard units

Measuring on a balance scale

Students use a balance scale to measure weights in terms of the equivalent weight of a number of objects (e.g. "The book weights the same as 3 apples"). This is a building block to measuring weights using standardized units (pounds, kilograms).
