Using the K5 Referral Program to Give to Kiva

When Diane Allen wrote a review about K5 Learning on her popular blog, dallenhomeschoolreviews, she was automatically entered into our referral program.  The K5 referral program is pretty simple.  Any person who signs up for the trial that mentions where they heard about K5 from – it can be a specific blog, a friend – and then subscribes, we pay $15 to the individual that referred that family.

Back to Diane.  Last month, she received $15 from us as a parent who subscribed told us they hear about us through her blog post.  We contacted Diane with the good news and gave her three options of how she could receive this reward:

- mail her a check

- activate her account for a free month of K5

- donate the money to Kiva on her behalf.

We’ve written about our relationship with Kiva before.  It ‘s a not-for profit-organization that is close to our heart as most of the lending goes to women who are making better lives for themselves to ensure their kids can continue to go to school.

Diane opted to donate her $15 to Kiva, so we’d like to thank her for her generous donation.  Her first loan went to Nary in Cambodia, a mother of four school-age sons.
