Science Fun for Spring Break

It’s day 2 of Spring Break and I’ve already got the “I’m bored” from our daughter.  Luckily, this week I’ve come prepared.  Today is SCIENCE DAY

And what better site to use than Bill Nye, the Science Guy’s web site.  If you haven’t come across Bill Nye before, you have a treat in store.  So who is he?

Bill Nye is a scientist, engineer, comedian, author and inventor and he brings his comedic flair to science.  He’s hosted a number of TV shows and his goal is to make science as entertaining and accessible as possible.  You can learn more about him on his biography page.

Now for the fun stuff.  On his web site, Bill has created a section called “For Kids and Teachers”.  It’s packed with home-based experiments, printable episode guides, printable one sheets and a pop quiz.  Basically, tonnes of science.

We’re going to start with some printable one sheets – “acid attack”, “don’t be nervous” and “orbiting marbles”.  Once we’ve warmed up, I think we’ll be more brave and get stuck into the messier experiments, like “pop a rocket”.
