What is a prefix?
A prefix is a group of letters placed before a root word. The prefix modifies the meaning of the root word.
For example: the word “disagree”. The prefix dis- means not/opposite. Combined with the root word “agree”, the word “disagree” means “not agree”.
Prefix definitions flashcards
As prefixes change the meaning of words, we have created a set of prefix flashcards for students to practice the meanings of prefixes.
What is a suffix?
A suffix is a group of letters placed after the root of a word. The suffix modifies the meaning of the root word.
For example: the word “tireless”. The suffix -less means without. Combined with the root word “tire”, the word “tireless” means “without getting tired, not getting tired”.
Suffix definitions flashcards
Similarly to the prefix flashcards, we have created a set of suffix flashcards for students to practice the meanings of suffixes.
