We believe vocabulary development is fundamental to improving reading comprehension; in order to comprehend the meaning of texts, students must understand the underlying vocabulary.
With that in mind, we have bolstered our grade 3 vocabulary worksheets page with two new sections. These two sections include worksheets on practicing words and their meanings, context clues, and filling in missing words in sentences and paragraphs.
We’ve also published a vocabulary workbook for grade 3 students in our bookstore.
The workbook contains 40 lessons practicing 10 words per lesson. Each lesson contains a word list, 3 worksheets with exercises and an answer sheet.
Here’s an example: lesson 10.
Word List
It starts with the word list:
Sentences
The first exercise asks students to replace the word in bold with a word from the word list for each sentence.
Word Association
This exercise has the student associate words from the word list that are similar to two other words.
Match Meanings
On this worksheet, students have to draw a line between two phrases to make a complete sentence.
Paragraph
The paragraph is missing words that students have to fill in from the word list.
Answer Page
Each lesson comes with an answer page.
Other exercises covered in the workbook are words and their meanings, synonyms, antonyms, applying meanings, context clues, and selecting the correct word in sentences. You can find the grade 3 vocabulary workbook on this page in our bookstore.
