The Good Work of Grassroots Reading Organizations

A friend put this poster on Facebook yesterday and it caught my attention.

Burning Through Pages

What a clever way to raise awareness – I certainly looked up the web site: burningthroughpages.org.

This not-for-profit organization based in Denver, CO, advocates for reading and writing among the city’s youth.  Their premise is that kids often read outdated and are not always easily relatable to the current generation reading them.  So this organization buys, and takes donations of, modern books and then gives them away to youth in Denver.  What a great idea and we just wanted to give this organization a shout out for their good work.

The work organizations like Burning Through Pages do on a grassroots level help countless kids in more ways than one.  Reading skills build self-confidence and achievements, which these kinds of organizations have a first-hand experience in.

If you know of any more groups like Burning Through Pages, let us know in the comments below.  They all deserve a special thanks for the work they do for our kids.
