I’ve stopped pretending that I know everything. Our daughter who is now eight – going on 13 – would have me rumbled so fast I’d make an even bigger fool of myself trying to dig myself out of the guesswork diatribe. So when she came to me asking why referees wear stripes, I decided not to ramble, but said: “let’s see if we can look it up”.
And so we did and came across this great entry on Wonderopolis. Since then, we’ve come back to the site to check out what other “wonders” they’ve written about. It’s a great site filled with a great mix of quirky and practical explanations of things I’m sure we all wonder about from time to time.
Created by the National Center for Family Literacy, Wonderopolis, posts a new wonder every day. As of today they’re at number #512, asking if we’ve ever wondered about secret societies.
Here’s how Wonderopolis describes itself:
“Our Wonders of the Day will help you find learning moments in everyday life, ones that fit in with dinner preparations, carpool responsibilities, a stolen moment between breakfast and the bus, or within school curriculum and education programs.”
This site is definitely worth checking out.
